Learn everything you can about the company. Prepare questions for the interviewer. Gather your thoughts. You should be able to answer the following questions about yourself such as "What do you want to do? Where do you want to work? What kind of working environment do you prefer? What are your career goals?"
Your resume is your sales brochure. It may be the only opportunity you will have to present yourself. It must be neat and easy to read. Spelling and punctuation errors are fatal mistakes.
Even better, arrive early. A little extra time could prove invaluable if you get lost on the way or traffic slows you.
Smile, be polite and try to relax.
Make positive statements and answer questions as directly as possible.
Do not take children or friends.
Your clothing should be neat, pressed and professional looking. As it can be difficult to know the culture of the office environment beforehand, err on the side of conservative. Even if everyone's wearing jeans when you arrive, you are still probably better off having shown up in a suit. However, don't be afraid to inject some personality into your look and don't neglect the details. Make sure to have a fresh haircut and clean, manicured nails.
Be prepared with a few questions of your own. Remember, this is your opportunity to find out if you want to work there.
After the interview, don't forget to send a handwritten note or friendly e-mail thanking the interviewer for his or her time and consideration, as well as restating your interest and commitment to the position.
